Shurooq unveils a new visual brand identity inspired by the limitless potential of Sharjah

The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), has unveiled a bold, forward-looking visual brand identity, which celebrates the authority’s slogan of Moving Forward. Guided by the traditions of the Emirate of Sharjah and driven by futuristic innovation, the new branding has introduced a fresh dynamism to the way Shurooq will communicate its diverse and rapidly expanding portfolio of developments in six key market sectors including hospitality, real estate, leisure, arts & culture, and others. 

 

An inspiring 360 degree media campaign designed by the authority announced the new brand identity for Shurooq. Titled ‘Together we thrive’, the campaign reinforces the importance Shurooq places on collaboration and inclusivity as it creates ‘exceptional experiences’, a ‘sustainable future’, through ‘purposeful investments’ that will ‘enrich Sharjah’s culture’. 

 

In its 14 years of its existence, the authority has designed and delivered inspiring projects, which have not only put Sharjah on the map for businesses, investors, residents, travellers, entrepreneurs and working professionals interested in the UAE and the region, but have also set the benchmark for progress that celebrate cultural heritage and champion environmental sustainability.

 

Shurooq’s new signature brand colours, yellow and dark grey, are an ode to Sharjah’s namesake - the rising sun, as it continues to advance the emirate towards a brighter future for all, in line with its vision of Transforming our people and economy, and inspiring blueprints for soulful progress and prosperity

 

New brand visuals: A tribute to different shades of Sharjah’s stunning landscapes

The visual identity elements for Shurooq’s new brand logo are inspired by Sharjah’s geographic waterways, reflected in an abstracted Arabic “sh”(ش)” letter and the English “S”, symbolising a beacon for investment, transformation, innovation, partnership and the future of Sharjah. With bold typography that reflects the confidence of the authority and its solid foundations, as well as an expansive colour palette characterised by fresh and lively primaries and secondaries, the new Shurooq hues celebrate the emirate’s diverse and thriving natural landscapes. 

 

Setting the roadmap for delivering positive impact 

Since its inception, Shurooq has put human capital at the heart of its ambitions. Always emphasising that “together, we can do great things”, the entity  has witnessed  strong growth in its workforce, starting with 92 employees in 2009 and expanding to 675 talented individuals today.

 

The authority will continue investing in talents and offer them stimulating environments that enable them to realise their true potential; will look into ways to cultivate mutually beneficial ties with strategic partners; will put in place innovation-driven processes that strive for perfection balanced with pragmatism; continue to create places where people will feel a deep sense of belongingness; and strike a perfect balance between profit- and value-creation for stakeholders. 

 

Shurooq has also made conscious consistent investments in key market sectors of Culture & Tourism, Mobility & Logistics, Health & Wellbeing, Agri-food Technology, GreenTech, Human Capital & Innovation, Advanced Manufacturing, to advance Sharjah’s vision of sustainable development. The entity will continue to look into new ways of investing in these sectors and forge new partnerships to carry on with delivering positive impact.

 

A brand identity that makes Shurooq more accessible to its stakeholders 

As part of the rebranding, Shurooq has divided its core businesses into six key verticals, namely, hospitality with marquee projects like Sharjah Collection by Mysk; real estate, with a first-of-its-kind development like Sharjah Sustainability City; malls & leisure with project like Kalba Waterfront Mall; investments & partnerships like the one with Sharjah Transport Solutions, amongst others; arts & culture with a project like the House of Wisdom; and finally, investment promotion with its initiative ‘Invest in Sharjah. These industry verticals will be the authority’s key focus areas going forward, enabling the entity to collaborate with their stakeholders to continue building on its expansive portfolio of world-class projects, which have raised Sharjah’s profile as one of the most livable cities in the world and a top FDI destination in the region.   

 

In recent years, Shurooq has streamlined its offerings to create new opportunities for business and investment in emerging, future-forward sectors. This represents a strategic shift towards enhancing Sharjah's competitive advantage and unlocking its full potential. Mleiha National Park launches ‘Come Closer’ campaign connecting visitors to nature, culture & adventure and its 200,000-year-old legacy

Mleiha National Park, a cornerstone of Sharjah’s commitment to preserving its rich historical and ecological heritage, has announced the launch of their ‘Come Closer’ campaign — an invitation to connect deeply with nature, culture, adventure, and history. This new initiative underscores the park’s mission to offer an immersive experience, transporting visitors through over 200,000 years of human existence and natural wonder.  The 34.2 sq km park was established under the Emiri Decree by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to protect and preserve this important region. The occasion was also marked by a live performance of the song by Sons of Yusuf, adding an electrifying atmosphere to the launch. This collaboration between (Shurooq) and Sons of Yusuf highlights Sharjah’s commitment to preserving and promoting its rich cultural heritage while embracing contemporary art forms, and also showcases the renowned intellectual hub as a symbol of knowledge, innovation, and cultural exchange in the region. A powerful narrative of ancient wisdom and modern expressionThe House of Wisdom, a reimagined library for the 21st century, stands as an example regarding Sharjah’s dedication to education and creativity. Known for their unique blend of Arabic culture and Western hip-hop influences, the brothers have gained regional and international recognition through viral hits like their remix of Wiz Khalifa’s “We Dem Boyz” and their acclaimed track “One Time,” whose music video has gained over 1.5 million views.  Their musical approach goes beyond entertainment, aiming to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Arab world, with their debut album “Shaykh the World”; featuring Jay Electronica, Talib Kweli, and CyHi the Prynce; exploring historical narratives and celebrating the Islamic Golden Age. Shurooq presents projects that celebrate history, nature, and sustainability at WTM 2024

The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) is showcasing its flagship eco-luxury and heritage destinations at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2024 in London, in a bid to reiterate its commitment to environmental preservation, cultural heritage and sustainable tourism practices. As part of its participation in the event, within the Sharjah pavilion led by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), Shurooq is participating for the 19th consecutive year, joining over 320 exhibitors and 750 entities from across five continents, bringing nearly 4,000 tourism projects to the global event, which runs until November 7.Shurooq is highlighting two key projects within the Sharjah pavilion that reflect the emirate’s rich cultural heritage and diverse natural landscapes. Mleiha National Park, spanning 34 square kilometers, is both a site of archaeological and historical importance and an eco-luxury destination. The park is divided into three distinct zones: the Core Conservation Zone, focused on preserving the natural environment and supporting wildlife; the Ecotourism Zones, offering eco-stays, adventures, and educational activities; and the Hybrid Zone, which serves as a middle ground for conservation and sustainable tourism practices.Visitors can explore Sharjah’s historical landscape while enjoying luxury camping experiences and adventure activities. The park is integral to Shurooq’s vision of positioning Sharjah as a destination where history, culture, and natural beauty blend seamlessly.WTM attendees had the opportunity to form a deeper connection with Mleiha through the pages of Mleiha: Ancient Treasures of the UAE - a landmark publication launched recently by Shurooq in collaboration with Assouline Publishing. The luxurious and visually captivating coffee table book charts the region’s evolution, from early human settlement nearly 200,000 years ago to its prominence as a thriving centre of trade and innovation, highlighting Mleiha’s influence as a major urban hub in the Arabian Peninsula. Also featured as part of Shurooq’s showcase at WTM 2024 is Nomad, a retreat comprising 20 luxury trailers offering panoramic views of Kalba’s natural landscapes, set to be completed by Q2 2025.
