American Business Council tours Khorfakkan and Kalba
HE Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), welcomed participants, including Mr Ramsey Jurdi President of the American Business Council, and Mr Khalid Al Haddad, Emirates Airlines District Manager for Sharjah and Northern Emirates to the trip. They were accompanied by Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, COO of Shurooq, Elie Armaly, Director of Business Development at Shurooq, Mohamed Juma Al Musharrakh, Head of Investment Promotion at Shurooq, as well as representatives from a number of government entities. The convoy of coaches first arrived in Khorfakkan, where attendees took part in a number of exciting teambuilding events and enjoyed lunch at the Oceanic Hotel after which the coaches made their way to the Kalba Eco-tourism Project, where attendees learned about the development, its aims and objectives. Shurooq's delegation and representatives from the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) explained that the Kalba Eco-tourism Project is in line with Shurooq's social responsibility efforts and its strong belief in the preservation of environmental heritage. Attendees were also familiarised with project's the three phases of development. Marwan Al Sarkal stated that Shurooq undertook the Eco-tourism project with the aim of creating public consciousness and generating greater awareness about environmental issues, while developing the Emirate's rich environmental tourist assets. Commenting on the trip, Al Sarkal said: "The event offered a valuable opportunity to meet with members of the American Business Council in an informal and entertaining environment. While attendees were given unique insights into development and tourism projects undertaken by Shurooq, the Authority, in turn, was given a platform to highlight not only the investment opportunities on Sharjah's Eastern Coast, but also to showcase the area's rich heritage and natural beauty." Speaking about the tour Mr. Ramsey B. Jurdi American Business Council President said, "The ABC is keen on building a long lasting partnership with Shurooq and promoting opportunities for American business in Sharjah. Shurooq was established in 2009 with the aim of achieving social, cultural, environmental and economic development on the basis of Sharjah's distinct Arab and Islamic identity, so as to encourage investment by adopting the best international standards in providing quality services that help attract investors from the region and the world. The Authority's main mission is to provide the necessary facilities and incentives, to overcome obstacles facing investment activities in the Emirate, to evaluate investment and tourism-related infrastructure projects, and to lay down the necessary plans and groundwork to complete such projects.
