Shurooq set to raise UAE flag in Kalba, Al Dhaid and Dibba Al Hisn in celebration of National Day

UAE flag to be raised on 75-metre high pole
The UAE flag will be raised in a special ceremony to be held in Kalba, Al Dhaid and Dibba Al Hisn, on 2 December, at 4:30pm, in the presence of directors and staff of a number of government departments in Sharjah, as well as senior officials of government bodies in the three cities. Speaking on the occasion, Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), said: "The inauguration of the new flagpoles in the Eastern Region in Sharjah - which will coincide with the 42nd anniversary of the UAE National Day-comes in complementation of the flagpole developed in Sharjah by Shurooq last year as part of its celebration of the UAE's 41st National Day. The UAE flag on the Flag Island is raised on 123-meter high pole, an initiative through which we aim to consolidate national loyalty to our beloved country in the minds and hearts of the people of the UAE, who collaboratively work to safeguard their country and raise its status." The flagpoles will be inaugurated in a special ceremony to be held at the same time in the three cities of Kalba, Al Dhaid and Dibba Al Hisn where the celebrations will begin with the UAE national anthem, followed by the oath of loyalty, and then the flag-raising ceremony, accompanied by a musical performance by the military musical band of Sharjah Police. The celebrations will also feature a saluting of the flag and then conclude with live musical shows performed by the military band along with all participants in the event. His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah - inaugurated the Flag Island, developed by Shurooq in collaboration with the Sharjah Department of Public Works and a number of government bodies and departments, on December 2, 2012. The Flag Island is home to the 7th highest flagpole in the world where the UAE flag is flying on a 123 metre-high pole. Established in 2009, Shurooq strives to encourage investment in the emirate of Sharjah by adopting the best international standards in providing quality services that help attract investors from the region and the world. Shurooq's key mission is to provide facilities and incentives to help overcome obstacles facing investment activities in the Emirate, evaluate tourism and investment related infrastructure projects, and lay down the necessary plans to complete such projects.
