Shurooq participates in NYU International Hospitality Investment Industry Conference

Marwan Al Sarkal: Sharjah will provide the highest level of service and luxury in the hospitality industry
H.E. Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, Shurooq CEO, made the statement on the sidelines of the Authority's participation in the 34th Annual New York University International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference taking place from 3-5 June in New York, USA. Led by Al Sarkal, Shurooq's delegation includes Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Shurooq Chief Operation Officer, and Elie Armaly, Director of Business Development at Shurooq. Al Sarkal commented, "The tourism industry has a promising future," going on to say that Sharjah has unique tourist elements and attractions making it a globally competitive player in attracting tourists and investors in the tourism sector. Highlighting the importance of participation in this conference, Al Sarkal said, "Shurooq's participation comes in line with its highly ambitious strategy to promote Sharjah as a leading investment destination in the region and highlight the Emirate's tourist elements and attractions through its presence at major international business events and platforms." "Shurooq's participation in the event is aimed at promoting the numerous available investment opportunities in the Emirate's hospitality sector and marketing them in the international arena. This falls in line with our approach of promoting Sharjah's tourist attractions, as well as at negotiating with a number of international hotel operators on possible partnerships in future hotel projects in the Sharjah," Shurooq's CEO said, He added that the authority is working during the conference to promote the new and quality tourism attractions in Sharjah such as the cultural tourism and ecotourism sites, and to highlight the new projects related to these tourism sectors such as the Heart of Sharjah and Kalba Eco-tourism which are among the largest tourism projects in the region. Al Sarkal added the conference offers an important platform to meet with more than 600 decision makers, top industry leaders, business executives and professionals, as well as with businessmen and investors interested in the hospitality sector from all around the world.He also underlined the importance of opening up new channels of communication with senior officials and businessmen. Al Sarkal emphasized Shurooq's eagerness to participate in this global gathering to highlight the most prominent projects undertaken by the Authority in its capacity as the representative of a leading investment and tourist destination in the region. The Authority's delegation gave a presentation highlighting the Kalba Eco-tourismproject currently being implemented by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) which seeks to lure investors to undertake the construction of hotels and chalets, as well as the Al Majaz Waterfront, Heart of Sharjah project, and The Chedi Khofakkan Resort, among others on the UAE's tourism map. Shurooq's delegation held several meetings and discussions with senior executives and representatives of leading global tourism agencies and hotel operators, as well as businessmen and investors to familiarize them with remarkable developments taking place in the Emirate's tourism industry, which is making tourism a promising economic sector for potential investors and visitors. The delegation also engaged in a number of sessions and discussions organized on the sidelines of the conference during which industry leaders and professionals discussed the current status of the global hospitality industry and challenges it is facing. Shurooq was established in 2009 with the aim of achieving social, cultural, environmental and economic development on the basis of Sharjah's distinct Arab and Islamic identity, and to encourage investment by adopting the best international standards in providing quality services that help attract investors from the region and the world. Shurooq is working on several exceptional tourist projects in the Emirate, most notably the Al Majaz Waterfront-- the first phase of which was opened in December last year.Other projects undertaken by Shurooq include the Heart of Sharjah, The ChediKhorfakkan Resort, the Kalba-Eco Tourist project, and a hotel inspired by the UAE's rich heritage will be set up within the Heart of Sharjah project.
