HE Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), commented: "Sharjah's strategic location and diversified economy makes it an excellent base of operations for investors and companies wishing to establish themselves in the region. Through organising events such as this roundtable, Shurooq aims to make business communities from around the world aware of the many options and advantages that Sharjah has to offer and to encourage increased collaboration to the benefit of all parties. During this roundtable we will be exploring new business opportunities as well as ways in which to further strengthen and expand the already well-established business relationship between Sharjah and India and we look forward to the start of many new mutually beneficial ventures." Aimed at promoting Sharjah's diverse investment potential, the Roundtable will feature presentations by stakeholders in four of Sharjah's key sectors - travel and tourism, environment, healthcare, and transport and logistics. The first of these will be on travel and tourism presented by Shurooq, to be followed by a logistics presentation Hamriyah Free Zone. In addition Bee'ah, a leading and award-winning fully integrated environment and waste management company, will be focussing on the environment, and the day's discussion will conclude with a presentation on healthcare by the Sharjah Healthcare City. Shurooq was established in 2009 with the aim of achieving social, cultural, environmental and economic development on the basis of Sharjah's distinct Arab and Islamic identity, and to encourage investment by adopting the best international standards in providing quality services that help attract investors from the region and the world. Shurooq's key mission is to provide facilities and incentives to help overcome obstacles facing investment activities in the emirate, evaluate tourism-related infrastructure projects, and lay down the necessary plans to complete such projects.
