The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) in cooperation with "I Love UAE" Initiative has distributed gifts to labourers working at Sharjah's Al Majaz Waterfront project site as part of a charity campaign.
The campaign, themed 'Get involved and make a difference', began with the visit to the construction workers at the construction site on Khalid Lagoon. The delegation delivered words of thanks and appreciation to the workers in recognition of their outstanding efforts and significant contribution to the community. The visit also aimed to spread awareness of safety measures among workers. Following the address by the delegation, volunteers from Shurooq and "I Love UAE" led by HE Marwan Bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Shurooq and Amal Al-Agroobi, Founder of "I Love UAE" distributed gift packs containing some essential items to workers. Speaking on the occasion, H.E Marwan Bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Shurooq, said, "This Shurooq initiative aims to encourage the spirit of involvement, to encourage volunteer work in the service of society, and to extend thanks to construction workers who are working hard on the Al Majaz Waterfront project - despite the summer heat - to meet a tight deadline". Al Sarkal added that this initiative is part of Shurooq's corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme and is in recognition of the efforts exerted by this sector of our community, which is no less important than other members of society. Amal Al-Agroobi, Founder of the "I Love the UAE" Initiative and website, stressed the positive effects on the beneficiaries of these human initiatives, which help raise the morale of workers and embody the spirit of cooperation and volunteering among all members of the UAE community. The AED100 million Al Majaz Waterfront is the fruit of Shurooq's work to encourage investment and tourism in the emirate of Sharjah, and is being carried out with the aim of constructing a grand leisure park that complies with international standards, in cooperation with Sharjah government departments and establishments, as well as international companies. The waterfront project is spread over an area of 231,000 square feet - 121,000 square feet in the first phase and 110,000 square feet in the second phase. The Al Majaz Waterfront is located on the Khalid Lagoon in the heart of one of Sharjah's most vital and popular areas, which is the location for a number of the emirate's most high-profile events, such as the Sharjah Ramadan Festival, the Sharjah Water Festival, the Sharjah Lights Festival and the UIM Formula One Powerboat World Championship - Sharjah Grand Prix.
