The remarks were made during the Iftar banquet hosted by Shurooq in honour of media organisations that have been covering its diverse activities since establishment. The Iftar banquet was attended by a number of journalists and many media representatives from various UAE media organisations. Other guests and personalities also attended the banquet at Shurooq's invitation, which was hosted at ElManza Moroccan Restaurant in Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah. Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), said, "Media plays a significant role in the comprehensive development process in any country. We always strive to maintain contact with journalists on both professional and social levels, to not only enhance the role of media, but also to build good relations with them. We are extremely happy to meet media personalities along with their families at an Iftar banquet in the landmark El Manza Moroccan restaurant at Al Majaz Waterfront during this holy month." The journalists thanked Shurooq for its invitation and lauded its initiative, stressing that such meetings would help strengthen relations between the Authority and media representatives on one hand, and among the journalist themselves on the other, especially in the spiritual atmosphere of Ramadan. They expressed their admiration for Shurooq's continuous efforts to keep contact and communicate with all members of the community - both in professional as well as social sectors, including the media. The Dhs120m Al Majaz Waterfront, Shurooq's debut project, was opened 26th March 2012, and is situated in Sharjah's most vital and commercial district on the picturesque Khalid Lagoon. As one of the premier tourist and leisure destinations in Sharjah, it plays host to all major events in the emirate. Al Majaz Waterfront also houses many world-class restaurants and cafes, including: T.G.I Friday's, Caribou Coffee, Fat Burger, Pizzaro, Baja Fresh, Zahr El Laymoun, Tim Hortons cafe, Cold Stone, ElManza, a fine dining Moroccan restaurant and the soon to be opened Shakespeare and Co. All of them overlook the breath-taking Sharjah Fountain.
