"The City Sightseeing Sharjah tour buses form part of our extensive efforts to promote Sharjah and boost its position on the world tourism map," Armaly said. "By including 18 stops at the most important landmarks - tourist and cultural destinations- across the emirate these buses are not only a vital part of our tourism strategy, but they also ensure a top class service by offering visitors comfort and convenience. City Sightseeing Sharjah has become an invaluable tool in helping to develop the emirate's already flourishing tourism sector." "The tour buses include an audio guide for passengers which can be used through the headphone available inside the buses, explaining the significance of historical places in German, Russian, English, and Arabic and 5 more to be added in the future. The buses have been specifically designed to accommodate the weather conditions of the region." Elie added. Possible means of collaboration between the various parties were also discussed and, stressing the importance of cooperation and joint efforts to further improve the performance of Sharjah's tourism sector, Elie Armaly commented, "This meeting was critically important for travel, tourism and hospitality professionals seeking to remain current with issues impacting the Emirate and served as a platform through which to explore ways in which Shurooq and the parties present can pursue mutually beneficial avenues of cooperation and collaboration with the aim of developing new strategies to promote the emirate as a leading tourism destination." Shurooq was established in 2009 with the aim of achieving social, cultural, environmental and economic development on the basis of Sharjah's distinct Arab and Islamic identity, and to encourage investment by adopting the best international standards in providing quality services that help attract investors from the region and the world. Shurooq's key mission is to provide facilities and incentives to help overcome obstacles facing investment activities in the emirate, evaluate tourism-related infrastructure projects, and lay down the necessary plans to complete such projects.
