In the recently held meeting, both entities explored possible avenues of cooperation and areas of joint work and exchanged views on jointly developing expertise in the area of tourism and ways to attract investors. They also discussed the means to upgrade and improve public services and the vital need to forge partnerships in future projects, to achieve the objectives of the Emirates of Sharjah and Ajman in particular, and the United Arab Emirates in general. The meeting was also attended by Abdulraoof Mahmood Mohammed Ismaeil, Director of Financial Affairs at Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, Hussein Mohamed Ahmed Ali, first auditor at the municipality's Financial Department, and Fatima Hamad Bin Hamdan H.Al Matrooshi, Official in Charge of Investment Service Unit in the municipality, in addition to a number officials from Shurooq. Marwan Al Sarkal paid tributes to Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates for their continuous support in various sectors and the consequent growth of the country. He further hailed their efforts and enthusiasm to overcome all obstacles in order to provide the very best of services to the nation. During the meeting, Shurooq's CEO highlighted the landmark achievements made by the Authority since it was established, praising Shurooq's ground-breaking projects as well as its strategy that aims at developing various schemes and promoting investment in the emirate. Al Sarkal also spoke about Shurooq's international participations in global exhibitions and major events. Talking about the Authority's role in promoting Sharjah, he highlighted Shurooq's tourism business and investment potential. He underlined Sharjah's prominent attractions and business potential as revealed by a study, conducted by Shurooq in collaboration with Deloitte, a leading international consultancy firm. Al Sarkal said the study offers an overview of investment trends and prospects and serves as a guide to different investment sectors. Al Sarkal noted that the study reveals four key sectors, including Travel and tourism, transport and logistics, healthcare and environment will witness a phenomenal growth over the next five years. Referring to obstacles and challenges that Shurooq has been facing and its efforts to overcome them, he expressed gratitude for the direct support of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, as well as the close follow up of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). HE Ali Mohammed Khalifa Al Muwaijei Al Shamsi, stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination between various departments and institutions in the country, in order to achieve integration. He welcomed cooperation and exchange of expertise with Shurooq. Al Shamsi said the move comes as part of Ajman municipality's strategic plan supervised by His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Municipality and Planning Department Ajman, which focusses on cooperation with all government organizations to achieve public interest and a vision of the Union and its leaders. The two sides agreed upon adopting best services and best practices by all government organisations, departments and agencies to achieve quality in performance. They highlighted the success of Ajman Green Economy Conference and its accompanied exhibition. Both the events were organised by Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, in cooperation with Carbon Dubai Centre, the Ministry of Environment and Water and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in support of Dubai's initiative and Expo 2020 Dubai. The meeting also deliberated on ways to enhance mutually beneficial avenues of cooperation and collaboration. Different methods were also considered to enable both entities in taking appropriate decisions based on scientific data and help improve working environment and services provided to all segments of society. At the conclusion of their meeting, they agreed upon boosting cooperation and asserted to continuously conduct regular meetings in order to discuss potential activities and projects as well as tackle problems. Further meetings will be held to continue discussions. Shurooq was established in 2009 with the aim of achieving social, cultural, environmental and economic development on the basis of Sharjah's distinct Arab and Islamic identity, and to encourage investment by adopting the best international standards in providing quality services that help attract investors from the region and the world. Shurooq's key mission is to provide facilities and incentives to help overcome obstacles facing investment activities in the Emirate, evaluate tourism and investment related infrastructure projects, and lay down the necessary plans to complete such projects.
