Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) honours Sharjah Municipality and Public Works Department

In recognition of their efforts and cooperation in completion of Al Majaz Waterfront
Al Sarkal said the honour came in recognition of the constructive role of all bodies that cooperated to complete this project and develop the emirate of Sharjah. "The achievements made in the emirate would not have been possible without the wise directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah," Al Sarkal said. Shurooq CEO added that, "This honour also comes in recognition and appreciation of their fruitful cooperation in helping in the completion of Al Majaz Waterfront - the leading tourism project." Al Sarkal referred to the highly qualified national cadres in the Department of Public Works and the Sharjah Municipality who performed their entrusted duties perfectly, mentioning that their exemplary performance was a reflection of the enormous accomplishments, as well as the scope of work being done, by both departments in their quest to develop Sharjah. He stressed the need to honour faithful citizens for their hard work and dedication and loyalty to their nation. "Al Majaz Waterfront is a unique addition to the Emirate's rich portfolio of milestone achievements of which we are all proud. The waterfront project is a model of the quality of Shurooq's upcoming projects, and a clear result of collective efforts," Al Sarkal said. During the honouring ceremony, Al Sarkal presented mementos to Sheikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Public works, at the Department's Headquarters, and to Engineer Sultan Al Mualla, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, at the Municipality's Headquarters. Sheikh Khalid lauded the importance of the strategic partnership between the Department of Public Works and Shurooq which is a practical translation of the farsighted visions and sound directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah. He said the Department is always keen on collaborative efforts and strategic cooperation with leading establishments and companies in order to lay the foundation for diverse and important economic and tourist landmarks. "This strategic partnership is a positive step in the right direction to best serve the Emirate," Sheikh Khalid said. He stressed the importance of collective efforts in all economic fields and activating investment opportunities that would contribute to making a unique leap in the emirate's march of development and progress. He observed that Shurooq is an important pillar of the Emirate's economic development due to its rich contributions to projecting the civilized image of the Emirate, and described Shurooq as a leading investment body at the economic level in the country. Sheikh Khalid added that Al Majaz Waterfront is the Emirate's new icon, which would not have been possible without the wise directives and rational leadership of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah. "Through their partnership, Shurooq and the Department of Public Works joined hands to complete a leading cultural and tourist destination of the size of the Al Majaz Waterfront to add richly to the Emirate's cap of achievements,' Sheikh Khalid said. He underlined the great role Shurooq plays in serving the community and national economy in its capacity as a major driving force behind economic growth. Sheikh Khalid also underscored the importance of such gatherings that help enhance fraternal ties and positive cooperation that would reflect significantly in the near future, which will witness the implementation of giant projects that live up to the distinguished position of the Emirate. Al Majaz Waterfront is situated in the Emirate's most vital commercial district on the picturesque Khalid Lagoon, between Jamal Abdul Nasser Street and the Khalid Lagoon Corniche, a highly populated area with an estimated population of 100,000. The destination has attracted a large number of residents, visitors and tourists over the past few months. Noteworthy that Al Majaz Waterfront has recently won the Sharjah Tourism Excellence Award 2012 as the best new tourist destination in the emirate.
